James Islip — Drums
Andy Abbott — Baritone Guitar

That Fucking Tank are a two–piece rock band of Leeds. Andy plays odd–strung–and–tuned baritone guitar through a guitar and bass amp using a morley switch pedal. James plays a bass drum, snare drum and cymbals with sticks in his hands. Formed as a sad joke and perpetuated by lies, "The Tank" (or Death Fucking Tank as they are known in Belgium) have played many, many gigs ranging from a bedroom in a Barcelonian penthouse to an outdoor tramp infested festival in Derby, and everything in between.

Often improvised, always loud, always hypnotic and enthralling, That Fucking Tank always leave an impression on the audience. Sure there are similarities to Lightning Bolt or Hella and the comparisons are inevitable due to their being a duo, the comparisons are also quite mistaken, Tank are much more robust and riff driven than the before mentioned bands instead having more in common musically with the chunkiness of Shellac and Oxes, or the prog of King Crimson.

Their debut release was recorded in a few brief moments in the top of a pub before a William E Whitmore gig. Jealous Records turned it into a CD called "A Document of The First Set" in May 2004. After releasing two split singles with Grabba Grabba Tape and Monster Killed By Laser, it was finally appropriate timing to record full and proper so Andy and James went to north Wales with uber–producer Robert Whiteley. They played in a big barn filled with ace microphones for a couple of hours and Rob captured it in his computer. This recording became their debut album "The Day of Death By Bono Adrenalin Shock", released on Jealous Records.

Along the way That Fucking Tank have toured incessantly in the UK and Europe and have shared stages with bands, they do like to tour, can play anywhere and are fully self–sufficient. Give them space to play, food, booze and petrol money and watch them go. Please get in touch.

Reviews

"That Fucking Tank is a radio friendly name for a band isn’t it! Not as tricky as Selfish Cunt though"
(John Kennedy, Xfm DJ)

"If that Tank band expect to get anywhere then they are going to have to think of another name"
(Anne Mcintosh, My Mum)
